Duelist
  • *Town sided role
  • *The Duelist is a gentleman who, upon being voted to lynch by any player(town or maf-sided) feels that his honor has been insulted.
  • *Anytime a player votes the duelist, the Duelist has the choice to challenge that player to a duel
  • *10 seconds after the challenge, a shoot option pops up for both players with the opposing players name to click
  • *first person to click the opposing players name wins the duel, killing the opposing player.
  • ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Notes:
  • -If multiple people vote for the Duelist, the Duelist will have multiple people among which to challenge to a duel
  • -Shooting the Duelist or his opponent ends the duel immediately with no consequence.
  • -as an honorable duel, all bullet proof vests (whether given by a blacksmith or if the opposing player is a bullerproof) are taken off
  • -The opposing player cannot refuse a duel request. (this cannot be used just to out a clear, someone must die)
  • -If the duel system is unfeasible/imbalanced, a 70% chance of the duelist succeeding could be implemented instead

But then everyone will know who the Duelist is.... It'd be better if he could challenge someone to a duel every night.

I really like this idea, plussed.

I do like the idea of this role, though.

Maybe some ambiguity on victories, like cops and vigilantes win. In the case of my previous idea.

I think the duel system could be based on who you are dueling, maybe, like if you were dueling a blue or someone along those lines you would win, but maybe lose to a vanilla. And you would beat a mafia like stalker or janitor. Although that could be too overpowered, since you would know that the person was guilty if they lived.

You've got a point about lag. Any ideas to make the dueling system fairer for lag? Would a percentage system be better like bodyguard?

Lag will fuck up this role, just sayin

Also, I think it would be worth including just for having the chance to say "I DEMAND SATISFACTION!"

and of course, the drama that ensues once everyone sees that a duel challenge has been sent. It could be a really fun role.

Yeah, in a lot of ways he is similar to the hunter. When I first thought up the duelist I thought it would be an interesting way to discourage random/mafia bandwagons. It also stemmed from the frustration of being fos'd and voted by someone you believe to be maf, but you can do nothing. It's fun to give a certain role power in that situation.

At the very least, it changes up the omgus dynamic if the person being voted is a duelist.

You could also do fun things like pairing up the duelist with a oracle, giving you potentially two clears.

To me it seems kinda like a hunter that can shoot before he is actually BEING lynched. Although i suppose if he doesn't die, he becomes a clear.
