Haven't played much with poisoner but wouldn't this be much more balanced if it didn't attend mafia meetings? It would add more strategy in the game and prevent mafia from always getting 2 kills.
-Poisons a target causing him to die the next night -Take place of normal mafia kill -Doctor only has a 50% chance to save target on the night of being poisoned -Sided with the Mafia
I like it, but I think doctor should be able to save himself with a no-visit. Would lead to some fun.

I like this role a lot as well, I was talking about it with primeintellect for a brief stint. I don't think doc should be immune to the poison. I think he should be able to cure on one visit. I don't think the poisoner should be in the mafia meeting, and I definitely DEFINITELY think you should be notified. Something along the lines of "You begin to feel ill.".
Would the person get a message saying "you have been poisoned!" or some equivalent? It sounds interesting, a bit like what the witch should have been. The name is a bit awkward, but +k for the concept.

A little bit overpowered with little repercussions to the poisoner. Doctors shouldn't be able to be poisoned. A good balancing mechanic would be the doctors discover the role of the poisoner if the poison is cured.
The poisoner should not participate in mafia meetings and be able to poison the mafia (like the silencer). This means the doctor isn't obliged to help the poisoned claim if they seem scummy, and also gives the mafia a reason to leave the doctor alive. Also if the doctor intercepts the poisoner he should discover his identity (as in visits on the same night).
It's pretty much a delayed second kill while giving the doctor two chances to save! It's a great role idea :)

Yeah, if doctor gets poisoned (like if they are killed) they cannot be saved unless there if another doc on them. And there would be lots of fun with the interceptor. Also the driver.
