Vandalist
  • (Also can be called "Vandal")
  • Visits one person every night.
  • That person will receive a fake system message of the Vandalist's choice.
  • 100% success rate if the chosen player receives no real report that night.
  • 50% chance that the fake message will replace any real message the chosen player gets that night. Message is not sent if it fails.
  • Sided with the mafia.
  • (Faking a system message works the same as forging a will- the Vandalist types it up)

To make things less complicated, I took out the distinction between items and reports. Now only reports matter when forging a system message.

It's only about as powerful as tailor or forger. And this would have less night options than Santa or Fabricator has. You just click on one of two options (report or item) and then type in whatever you want the message to be, like the Forger. Not that complicated, haha.

This role is firstly overly complicated (you have to choose what the fake report looks like or the fake item, etc with far too many options cluttering the night meeting) and secondly incredibly over powered. Please stop.

Well yeah, but that's why he would wait until he knows if there's that power role in the game. Night 1, the Vandalist can fake something else, like giving an item

the only problem is if he was to say give a blue a cop message its kind of obv that this role was in the game :/

This would be a good role. Lots of trolling.
I like it.

Lucid said this would've been a pain to code because of all the interfaces, so I've dumbed it down to what's basically a system messages forger. Really, you get more freedom this way, since you could either send real messages or just threaten/taunt people if you so choose.

Snowday fucking endorsed.
about 14 years
Well if it's ever made, I'll leave it up to Lucid to decide what's included/excluded.
about 14 years
I don't like the exclusions, it's not like this'd ever be used in comp, so it doesn't matter if it's a bit too OP'd

Maybe they just get a message saying whether or not it the vandalism was successful, making it possible for the town to look for them (Journalist). That way, if someone is suspected of being the vandalist, they can just not vandalize that night
deletedabout 14 years
The Vandalist should also read any system messages the person receives? Just like the forger? Or would that be too overpowered?
about 14 years
just think about it, what if someone ACTUALLY visited a loudmouth that night too, there would be conflicting claims, AHHH the possibilities
about 14 years
Could this role also falsify a loudmouth? cause that would be pretty cool if someone visited someone and they got back that they were mafia and then out of nowhere you get that system message AHHHH! ____woke me from my sleep.
about 14 years
Another idea I've been toying around with is that a journalist could get the real report if on someone who has been vandalized, helping to strengthen a role that is kind of weak in sandbox play currently. I wasn't sure about this though so I didn't include if officially

Fair point

Being able to fake an interceptor discovery is pretty OP in my opinion.
about 14 years
To build on what you've said: I think that it should also depend on the type of system message. Fake investigative reports should replace real investigative reports only, while fake item reports should only replace item reports.

Certain messages, like poison, love, and interceptor messages would be too powerful, in my opinion. The role should also not attend mafia meetings.
about 14 years
Alright plagiarist, I can agree to that, although if the player gets no message, there should be a 100% success rate. This could boost the power of the role when coupled up with the hooked, where the hooker blocks the report, making the success of replacing their investigation 100%
about 14 years
This role would require an immense amount of skill to pull off, and would mess up the town real bad. I love it!
deletedabout 14 years
I was just thinking, maybe the player should not see the made up message by the Vandalist? Like with the Forger, if the will isn't changed, the person doesn't get to see the changed will.
about 14 years
I think it should be a 50% chance the system message gets replaced or doesn't appear at all.
about 14 years
Possibly... Although I like the idea of the Vandalist making their presence known by vandalizing reports of roles that aren't even in the current game, just to frustrate the role they're doing it to
about 14 years
I think also though the reports u can choose from should be from the list of roles in the game. so no poiint having a creepy girl report if no creepy girl in the game
about 14 years
It includes all system messages that occur directly because of somebody's night action. So it does NOT include messages like "___ passed the bomb to____" or "___ reveals a gun!" But yes. Cop, watcher, tracker, journalist, detective, dreamer, priest, creepygirl doll, blacksmith, Santa, gunsmith, enchantress, and anything else I forgot. I figure that the role will work by having the icon of all roles that give system messages, and you just clock on the icon like you would for werewolf
