the idea is for on d1 (the start) the spy AND the agent contact the survivor and give their names so the survivor can talk back. therefore, the survivor knows both spy and the agent. then the survivor can choose to defect (side with) to either party, who they think will protect them best. if they side with maf, they tell the spy who the agent is so the mafia kills the agent. if they side with town they whisper the spy's name to the agent. the agent can then choose to claim out to reveal the spy, but generally, this will lead to the survivor's death (as mafia now know that the survivor has defected to the town. that means the town must protect the survivor (they dont have to, but its the honourable thing to do).
