Are you ethically cool with places like Sea World?

Sea World, no, because they're more about entertainment than education.

I'm more "ok" with aquariums that are more about educating the guests with the animals they are lucky enough to house.

As far as I know, with the animals in Sea World, they're mostly taken from the wild, while in aquariums the animals are usually kept ONLY if they're deemed non-releasable which is usually after a particularly nasty stranding or injury that prevents them from going back into the wild and thriving.

for example, at the aquarium I'm at, there's a sea lion who has been imprinted on humans and because of that, he cannot be released because he associates himself more with humans than sea lions which is dangerous for him and humans alike.

what got you interested in marine biology?

when i was a wee lad, i found a sea horse in a pile of seaweed on the beach, that definitely led me to it.

also flipper was my favorite movie and i watched it over and over so maybe i was just brainwashed.

ok fine, pamela....

let's see...i was invited to a skype group with you in it and while some of the people in it were less than friendly to me, I found you to be a nice exception to that situation. You're awesome and you seem to know what you want to do in life and that's great, not many people know that. Also you know like 5 languages which is inSANE. teach me a new language

hi arials92 long time no talk.

my favorite marine animal is an orca, which people might think is a whale, but it's actually a dolphin!

I basically just prepare food for seals and sea lions and help train the seals at an aquarium

yeah, its not really high paying so you really have to weigh the pros and cons. i'd rather enjoy work than get paid a lot. but thats just me. some ppl like to get money to do fun things in whatever spare time they have. this is what life is all about
