I caught a timid shiny kyogre in sapphire after only like, 20 minutes of soft resetting. unfortunately I ruined the EV's by using it in the elite four and the IV's aren't stellar, I don't think it has any perfect ones. On the plus side though, I have it on my emerald and I can clone it a million times so if anyone wants one let me finish black/white and I can transfer one over for you.
I only ever caught a shiny whismur, on my first ruby save. Probably doesn't help that 95% of the game I play I use repels anyway, makes it kinda hard to get a shiny pokemon.

found my second shiny in the last two weeks, this time it was a gloom. can't wait for the blood price i'll have to pay for getting two shinies after a life time of never getting any
well I do play game mods, but I still find that it's eh anyway. Most of the time, it's still just making the level curve way steeper so you just have to grind more, it doesn't really make the game harder, just more tedious.
They increase the difficulty, by making rival encounters/gym leaders have full teams of pokemon with raised levels. By the champion you're facing level 90's. Every pokemon is obtainable in game. Lots of dialogue is slightly revamped to be more meaningful and slightly less childish. The X and Y ones are finished and more polished, but the omega ruby/alpha sapphire ones are pretty cool.. I think. I only actually played Y's improved version, but I know ORAS has one.

i've tried to play heart gold like two or three times and every time i get to the kimono girls i stop because i get bored and they're also like way overleveled
I have a solo rattatta run on heart gold. I got up to the kimono girls fight then got bored cuz I couldn't be bothered finding somewhere to grind further. Really didn't help that I didn't use an Adamant nature.
