Cheating across multiple games in competitive mafia incurs an instant 4 month lobby ban and ineligibility to trophy for 8 months.
Cheating across multiple games in ranked (red heart) games incurs a one week lobby ban.
In both instances a cheating 1st violation is given.
Maximum ban duration
The maximum ban length is now 3 months in all normal cases of rule breaking. The mod team reserves the right to issue longer bans for particularly malicious behavior, such as OPI and posting X-rated content. Violations lengths have not changed. If you're wondering how this works, read the following.
For violations that last up to 3 months, nothing changes.
For violations up to 6 months, the ban is applied for 3 months and then lifted. The user will have N violations where N is the number required for a ban, but will be unbanned. Upon receiving another violation of the same type, he will be banned for another 3 months. When the second ban expires, the user can have at most N-1 violations of this type and things are normal.
Violations longer than 6 months will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
These changes are a shift to a more reformational, correctional way of enforcing rules. In particular, giving users who have cheated in red heart games a week to reflect on their actions feels a lot more reasonable to us than an immediate half-year ban. When it comes to shorter ban durations, the idea is that most people view 3 months or longer as simply "a long period of time," and are not disincentivized from breaking the rules because they will be banned for 6 months rather than 3 months.
We believe that these changes will lead to lower bypassing rates and less cheating on the site.

I'm pretty sure I understand the majority of people who bypass, we all do it for primarily the same reasons.

Shortening to 3 months won't significantly lower bypass. The week long for red hearts sure, most people no matter how stubborn will wait out the week.
Any ban over a month though is going to have the same level of bypass rates simply because people who bypass mainly do so because they can and because they don't enjoy or believe anyone has any right to exert authority over them, it's essentially their will striking against yours.
A better way is to create a system where offenders can EARN their way back in somehow faster, so they feel like a certain amount of power over their fate is placed back in their own hands and they aren't simply "fighting the system." Call it time off for good behavior.

I did not break any of these rules. What may have occurred as a bribe was me confessing to be a mafia after I was found out by the cop. Whom which a couple of games ago was townies with me. All I said was "we had a score to settle after all" as a joke. How is it that this was report-worthy? I'd have been caught whether or not I outed that line?
OGI and cheating are different rules and are moderated differently. If it was your first OGI violation you should have just gotten a warning., so look at the rules and make sure you're familiar with them going forward.
The duration of a violation encapsulates something about the severity of the rule being violated. Changing the violation lengths was something we considered but decided not to do because we want to maintain the idea that game throwing and cheating are more severe than GRS, OGI, ERB, etc.
Lobby camping is a rule that we may look at soon; it's currently a very seldom given violation. I don't remember a time since I've been on this site that someone has gotten two lobby camping violations.
Why don't you just change the length of the 6 month violations to 3 months then? Also I just noticed, Lobby Camping should probably not be 6 months for two vios. That's incredibly excessive for something so harmless.
I discovered that I'd received an OGI violation on a game I didn't cheat and unfortunately the game has expired so I can't further testify ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I've seen some people say RIP to victims of such misreports who've ended up banned. I simply ask if you will -ever- consider changing the current system such that victims can challenge violations in hopes of getting pardoned? (The reason I hereby ask this is that I've just yesterday been issued another misreport although the contents of that may be a bit more controversial, tl;dr: using an unorthodox strategy led a player to believe I GT'd)
