Any of you guys Hockey fans? It's super popular in America (Northeast and like Michigan/Minnesota/Dakota(s)/Wisconsin) but not really in the rest. It's also very popular in Canada and a lot of Europe.
I mostly follow the NHL (USA/Canadian league), NCAA (USA college hockey), and National Hockey (Olympics/ World Cup of Hockey). Other popular leagues include: The AHL and ECHL (minor leagues for the NHL), the CHL (Canadian Junior Hockey), the KHL (Russian Hockey League), the CIS (Canadian University Hockey), and the USHL (American hockey juniors).
I never played hockey as a kid, it was always too expensive (you have to buy all the pads+helmet+gloves+a stick+skates), and ice time is pretty expensive. I would always watch with my mom (funnily enough) because she was a big Boston Bruins fan. My dad didn't play or watch either, but he loved college hockey. He was the one who got me to be such a big Boston University Terriers fan.
There's different kinds of style of hockey besides ice, but ice is probably the most popular. There's: field hockey (mostly a women's sport, very different from actual hockey), Street hockey (played with rollerblades or sneakers and then a puck or ball), and in line hockey, basically ice hockey but in a roller rink. I've only played street with my friends, but I've always wanted to learn how to skate (and I might because my uni offers classes on ice skating and learning to play hockey).
What is the point of this thread? To get people into hockey. I love watching hockey, I'll try and watch every game on TV for my favorite team (Boston Bruins, it's hard tho with 82 regular season games+ the post season), and I go to all my Uni's hockey games. So basically, post in this thread with your Country, state, continent, province, time zone, anything, and I'll give you a few suggestions for teams to follow. This will be harder with countries besides the US and Canada, but I'll do my best.
