EM Winter Olympics 2018 Game Thread

over 7 years

Welcome to the second edition of the EM Olympics. This is a winter themed version as opposed to the summer one we had last time. So you can expect winter themed challenges to pop up.

We are proud to have several of our competitors from last season give it another go as well as all you new players who decided to sign up!

Here's a quick little FAQ to those who are new, and to those who are returning, but need a refresher on how this works.

What is EM Olympics?

  • Think of the EM Olympics as an elongated TWL game. There is absolutely no social skills required. It is all challenge based. Each week you will compete in a series of challenges, in which the best competitors advance to the next stage, and the losers drop out.

How do I play my challenge?

  • You will have one week to complete your challenge. There will be a schedule posted in this thread. It is subject to change at any moment, but you will be notified once it is. There are 5 hosts, at least one of them should be available throughout the day so when you're ready to play, just message one of them. The best way to get a hold of us is on Skype or Discord. The second best way is to PM this account that you are ready to play, There is also a Skype group chat that you can have quick access to all of us if you so desire. Just contact one of the hosts if you wish to be added! Here are our Skypes/Discords in case you don't have us added.
    • matt: Skype: mdubz4295 | Discord: matt#2689
    • nattless: nattless.
    • Markus: willmckenzie27
    • withered: live:withered1978
    • yuujin: live:bookbird123

Are there any rules?

  • The EM Olympics doesn't have very many rules. We expect all EM Olympics players to have integrity with all events. This means not cheating, not informing anyone about anything that occurs in the challenge (as you will all be playing the same thing). If you wanna do something but you're unsure whether it is wrong or right, contact one of the hosts immediately! If you are found violating one of the rules, you will be disqualified from this event and banned from the next EM Olympics event! You are, however, allowed to say how well you did in a round, whether you think you flopped or not, just as long as you don't say how.

Is there a prize for winning/doing well?

  • Yes. The prize is undecided for right now but the top 3 finishers in this event as well as the person who accompanies the winner of the event in their country will all receive prizes!

That's it for the FAQ. Here's how the rounds will work and the schedule to go with it. All times begin and end at 12:00 AM EST. This is subject to change at any time.

December 1, 2017-December 10, 2017 Round 1: 60 players; 15 drop out.

December 11, 2017-December 19, 2017 Round 2: 45 players; 15 drop out.

December 30, 2017-January 13, 2018 Round 3: 30 players; 12 drop out.

January 16, 2018-January 23, 2018 Round 4: 18 players; 8 drop out.

January 24, 2018-February 1, 2018 Round 5: 10 players; 4 drop out.

February 2, 2018-February 8, 2018 Round 6: 6 players; 3 drop out.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR TOP 6!!!!

  • eatemuptigs: Our reigning champion from last summer has gone all the way to the semifinals once again. While his scores haven't been AMAZING each round, he's done consistently well and did well enough to just barely etch a spot in the top 6 again. Will he be able to make it to the top 3 again? Or will his victory crown be snatched by someone new!

  • Elfen: Elfen has done spectacularly each round. I believe he's been in the green tier all five rounds. He is insanely fast, and smart. Those are two really good qualities to have in this competition. If his opponents aren't careful, he can easily snatch the gold trophy!

  • Ginga: Ginga had an okay start, not too spectacular of a performance until this most recent round where he placed on top of all his opponents. He's in it to win it as one of the fierce newcomers that is not to be messed with!

  • jack: The winner of EMBB2 could very well become the winner of EMO2. He placed the best in 2 out of 5 rounds and has done consistently well in the others. A very likely candidate to win the gold trophy, but with this upcoming round and his fierce competition, anything can happen!

  • Jeff: Besides Anthony, he's the only one left that returned from EMSO 2017. Due to an eye injury, he fell just short of winning one of three trophies from last season. My boy Jeff has done it again. Etched his way to the top 6 and has another chance at getting a top 3 spot he didn't get!

  • prcsmath: Possibly one of the most intelligent guys I've met. Also very speedy. Prcs has excelled well through this competition and this will be his FIRST TROPHY of any kind should he make the top 3. Best of luck!

Current we are on round 6. 6 enter, 3 drop out!

I hope the winner this year is from the continent of...
