The story of Hermaphroditus is actually kind of interesting. Hermaphroditus was the son of Hermes and Aphrodite who rejected the advances of a nymph. The nymph then waited until he undressed to bathe in a pool and attempted to rape him. She prayed to the gods that they would never be apart, and they granted her wish, fusing them into one body.
