Also, I'm not sure exactly what the fake gun would do when shot, either. Maybe it would extend one of those little flags that says "BANG!" when shot.

That's actually a good idea. If the gun fires on an unprotected player, it'll say something like "[shootername] tried to shoot [shotname]!" But if the victim is protected in some way, it will run the normal shot message.
