This role is soo good... delete either Jailkeeper or one of the shitty cop roles like the random-result cop and add this if you want to keep a nice number of 100 roles.

So many trash roles, yet this is so good.

It's almost like you didn't even read the description.

themafiatic 11 days 4 minutes
Agreed with XavierBarren. One correct lynch will out most alignments.

I like the concept but not the name. Someone suggested 'Detective'. Thats much better.

Detective sounds better.

You're piecing together vague clues.

Morph, it's so they can't just get a clear to claim D1 and effectively be a cop.

I like the concept, but I don't understand why they can't check the same people twice. It's not like there are enough days to do so anyway.

bad name, good concept

I don't think the name of mad scientist fits, or even just scientist.

'I'm imagining situations where the Mad Scientist is the clear in a 5-Way-LYLO, and he got two targets that didn't die. Overall, I can safely say that the Mad Scientist will need to be CC'd in most setups.' SGR said this, and I agree.
I think you're missing that if he survives untill late game, he will almost always have enough information to be guaranteed an autowin. Think about it deeply. He will have checked at least one person in the graveyard, but VERY likely 2 or above, and will know the alignments therefore or the living players if any survive. If it isn't used in multi-setups, I genuinely can't see any way of this being a balanced enough role.

This role wouldn't work with any miss-lynch setups for obvious reasons, besides that nice role.
over 15 years
That's true - in the examples you've just given, the role would work nicely, however, I just think it will be abused by people making point farms, perhaps not even intentionally, because of the information provided by this role.

And this role would truly shine in no reveal setups.

Then he would best be used in setups with no ML or setups with a third party.
Just like you wouldn't put too many prs in a setup, you'd have to carefully consider his strengths/weaknesses when creating a setup with him, as you do with any role before putting it in a setup.

That isn't what I mean though. Obviously in a lylo that will be the case. But you are forgetting the usefulness of previous nights. If you are in a lylo situation, and you kno wthat Player A is a dead scum and that player B, who is alive, is not aligned similarly, you know the maf.
If you know in a 3-way lylo that player C who is alive is not aligned with player D with the town player E, then you know the scum. And, as he gets to check two people every night, (you do the stats yourself), the chances are likely that by 3 or even 5 way lylo, he will have checked enough people to confirm all the scum he needs to. The problem with this role is that it doesn't directly out the mafia; worse, it directly outs the TEAMS. Then, you only need one lynch correct to practically win the game through living clears and process of elimination.
over 15 years
The key thing you're forgetting is the ambiguity of the result. If you go into 3way lylo, of COURSE you're going to get a result of "different" on the last two people. If anything, it's WEAKER than cop in that situation.
The fact that a person can only be used once is the key balancing factor.
over 15 years
As we've said, though, in the later stages of the game with two targets left it can generate autowins SO easily. Or if town has a mislynch, they will gain clears or scum too quickly. I like the role but I don't think it can ever be balanced enough to be implemented.

I'd remake this role, but I don't want to lose everything that's been contributed thus far. However, in retrospect, "Scientist" is a better name. Perhaps even "Researcher."

It would have to follow the same conversion principles as yak. The report would show the person's /previous/ alignment (just as a yakked person doesn't show as guilty on the night that they're yakked).
over 15 years
If there's more than one mad scientist, do they share the same meeting?
Also, what happens if a conversion role (ex.mason) and the mad scientist picks the same person?
ex.Mason=Player A, Survivor-Player B, Blue=Player C, Mad Scientist=Player D
Player D chooses Player B and PlayerC. Player A masons Player B. Would Player B and C's alignment show up to be "Aligned" or "Not Aligned"?

Kana, I say the opposite. Godfather should still look like Village and Miller should still look like Mafia. That aside, it could be a common strategy to make one of the chosen people a clear couldnt it? In that sense it's like a cop but works funny. I like this one, just needs a better name :)
