Your question was "why would you expect people to care?" or something along that right? I don't see how that question can be relevant after 5 pages in an honest I-just-want-to-know manner. If you had posted it on page 1 you could argue that you didnt know people would actually ask stuff again, but at this point in time you knew that not to be true so I don't see the point unless you're just calling them pretentious and egotistical.
I'm not trying to pick a fight with you, even if you meant it the way I think you did at the end it's your opinion which is something I don't have a problem with, I just don't see why you're acting all surprised that people thought you were being mean.

this can be seen as (doesn't mean that it was seen this way by everyone): implying that they will suddenly care (implies that they didn't care) i.e. no one cares
