My friend was really salty about having input delays saying that he couldn't move after being hit. And I was like you know there's a hit stun... right? You can DI while you're getting hit but...

and now he won't play with me ):

smash 4 controller with mayflash gc adapter

and nah it's not the hitstun, i've played legit melee and i'm aware of how the hitstun works. just input delay in general in neutral

aw man that's what i was gonna do. i'm using the ps3 controller right now lol

EDIT:

so some people are also experiencing input lag and they say go to Device Manager (if Windows, i dont know about macs) and calibrate the adapter? or the controller

thanks for the rundown ghibli, it was helpful. i didn't know about the cheat code thing either so thank you for saving me the effort of unlocking every character

oh my god i feel. when i first got it i spent 15 minutes playing 1 player and got so mad i looked it up LOL

When you first start up Melee, you will not have all the characters. You can unlock all the stages and characters by cheat codes in Dolphin Emulator

First add your ROMs to the default menu list by clicking on Browse

Then located your ISO folder again and click Select Folder

After that, right click on your Melee ROM, which should now be in your Dolphin Emu directory

Go to Gecko Codes, check all the cheats you want, then click close.

After that go to

Options -> Configure -> General

Tick Enable Cheats and click Ok

It's actually really simple. I don't know if you've ever used an emulator but basically you go to

https://dolphin-emu.org/

and download the corresponding Dolphin Emulator for your computer

then, go to

http://www.emuparadise.me/Nintendo_Gamecube_ISOs/Super_Smash_Brothers_Melee/66415

or

http://www.freeroms.com/dl_roms/rom_download.php?title=Super%20Smash%20Bros.%20Melee%20(v1.02)&system=Nintendo_Gamecube&game_id=38937

and download the ISO for melee v1.02.

I can't exact remember what happens when you install Dolphin, so make a folder and install it there maybe.

After Dolphin gets all settled, go to the ISO folder in the Dolphin folder

Extract the Super Smash Bros Melee zip file into the ISO folder.

After your Melee ROM is inside the ISO folder, go back to your Dolphin Emu and click open

Then double click on your Melee ROM and it should automatically start playing.

if someone explains how netplay works and how to have the best gamecube configuration in dolphin i would play

nevermind about the controller thing, my new gamecube controller works well enough. i would totally play, i'm just way better at smash 4 than i am at melee/project m
