hi all, if any of u r good at maths can u please help me with the following equations? thankyou

4)

a. how could u find the gradient of a line that is parallel to the ine with an equation of y= ax + c

b.how could u find the gradient of a line that is perpendicular to the ine with an equation of y= ax + c

I may post more on here if I get stuck, any help is appreciated. :D

Hello guys, this is your favorite local mastermind troll of 2017, Jacob "DatGuiser" Thunder [REDACTED], and today I got into a calculus class and that stuff is actually understandable. So this means you can ask me for help with math homework.

Buuuuuuuuttttttt, I can't pm on this account or jacobalt0523 because they are now unverified accounts. And my Orienteering account is banned (past unban date). So blame the mods for me not being able to help out with your math homework.

a. is a trick question designed to penalize you for using your intuition about the structure of the question to solve the problem.

it's the same question as "what is the gradient of a line with the equation y=ax"

I feel like you're lacking some intuition on these concepts
Just go through a couple of Khan Academy vids on them, they'll help you out tons

y = ax + c , y is the y value, a is the gradient, x is the x value, C is the y-intercept (where it crosses the axis when x = 0). If it's parallel the a value must be the same. If it's perpendicular you need to do the negative reciprocal of the a value. So lets say a = 2 then your gradient of the perpendicular line is -1/2. So -1 / a1 = a2

answer to a) is a.

answer to b) is -1/a.
