Mental Illness Support

over 6 years

If you're living with a mental illness of any kind whether it be Bi-Polar, Depression, PTSD, Dyslexia, or even if you're like me and have anxiety it can get really sometimes, obviously some mental illnesses aren't as serious as others but I'd like to take this time to share some stories (good or bad) that have happened to you guys.

It can be a real pain to live with and its frustrating when people don't understand. For those who don't know I have anxiety and I suffered depression but I would rather not go into that.

So I guess this is a support thread or something I'm not sure. Ask advice on here or stuff like that feel free to say whatever you want that isn't insults or abuse

A lot of things and people have changed on EM, MeetTerry is not one of them. He goes straight for the bait, always. Some things don't change.

Hi, I suffer from BPD, bipolar (that might be misdiagnosed though because BPD has a lot of bipolar symptoms. I'm in major treatment now for the first time in my life.) and major depression. If anyone needs any advice or someone to talk to, my Discord is ivana#1700. I'm super happy this thread was made, now people don't have to feel so alone, especially when it's evident a lot of people on this website suffer from mental illness in particular. A lot of people go undiagnosed. Thank you for posting this.

SMH it's one of the saddest things that a stigma still exists around mental health and being able to discuss it.

what stigma are you talking about?

these are annoying posts when mental health awareness has become one of the most talked about topics at colleges and workplaces over the past few years

if you think you have a mental illness, get that checked out and stop self-diagnosing

Posts like this kinda prove my point, don't they - obviously it depends where you live but I'd say for the vast majority of even the developed world it's basically a taboo topic unless you happen to live in a particularly petit-bourgeois area.

Side note: who's to say these people haven't seen a doctor about what they're talking about in this thread anyway?

this is a super thoughtful thread and i appreciate you making it. i've suffered from ocd (formally diagnosed) for about four years now and some days are easier than others but having support definitely makes the tough days less of a hassle to get through; if anyone ever needs me, my inbox is open. i mean it too, even if you think i don't like you or we have some previously withstanding issue - certain things are, i think, larger than petty beef on a java mafia site.

I'm interested in learning more about OCD since I recently met someone who has had it for years. What intrigued me quite a bit was the side of OCD most people don't hear about (e.g., hallucinations, taboo thoughts). What would you want others to know about OCD?

hi dude, i admire you for wanting to educate yourself and this is a really good question. i ended up writing a very annoying and long answer that i decided would be best shared via pm so See U There.

Hello friends. :)

I'd be happy to chat with anyone battling anxiety or depression. I've suffered from the latter off and on for the past 8 or so years and was diagnosed with GAD when I was 16 (very likely had it earlier). I have coping mechanisms that I can share and just want you to know that you don't need to suffer alone!

My Discord tag is on my profile. Please don't hesitate to HMU.

just pm me please. I have no discord

Big respect to anyone here who's offered to listen/ be honest about their issues, especially considering how vicious this site can be sometimes - wish you all the best of luck with dealing with what you're going through.

I understand you're schtick is being an insufferable twat at any given instance but just let these people have their place to vent. It isn't affecting you, well maybe it is given you're going to spend every day viewing it seething with rage that somebody might self-diagnose themselves because how dare they.
