You're actually watching it for the plot? I though the anime was just designed to get nations arguing with one another. I think it's mostly due to the names not being the easiest to remember. I believe 'China' is now known as Huang Lingyin, which is the third name change in terms of translation.
Someone posted a tinyurl link saying something about the new iPad. Being the dumbass I am, I clicked it but right before I closed it I saw the poster's name was Dante. And so many lulz were had.
