Now, it is on rhetoric that civilized society runs. No longer must men argue with muscle and might, for now we reason. We put the force of our desires to our tongue and articulate ideas that are otherwise imprisoned among the white walls of enskulled mind.
You’ve heard the stereotype that rhetoric abounds from the throats of politicians, but even more truly and simply it exists in the mind of anyone who wants something. I want something, and you want something. Therefore, the workings of rhetoric are in both our minds as we conspire to get that which we want.
And on the level of mankind there is no greater concept; it is plainly the peak of humanity. Rhetoric has won wars, elected presidents, convinced many undecided minds to be for or against an idea. You must know this: whoever masters rhetoric bests man.
Be wary of good rhetoric, for it is often accompanied by ulterior motives, always by self-interest, and has, in the past, buried millions. And poor rhetoric was powerless to save those millions. It is your duty to take up the task of fanging yourself with rhetoric, this magnificent art of words, and fighting for what you perceive as good. If not you and I, then someone else will--someone who, likely, will disagree with us.
