In 1998, a Platypus that escaped it's zoo enclosure in Minnesota was shot dead by a gas station owner mistaking it for a raccoon. Uproar across the state came out as Gillian the Platypus did not get justice. After a long legal battle, the gas station owner had to pay the price.
