I have some experience with mafia on other forums, so thought I'd try my luck here. Mastin is my name on mafiascum.net, and on the battleon forums, I go by the name mastin2. See the pattern? Oh, and, no, I am not 99 years old. I'm not going to tell you how old I really am.

My name in real life is Brian D. Lewis. I live in Western Washington (STATE!). If you ask me something, chances are, I'll answer, but a good portion of information I shall reserve for disguiser tests. :P

--My Most Magnificent Mafia Moves-- It just so happens that I've played some really good games and pulled a victory where there would be defeat. These are my favorites of these. (Both are from All Hail Discordia)

1: I was the SK. I killed the stalker, by chance, during the night. That left me, two traitors, and an unknown. Of course, I claimed traitor. We were going to lynch the one who didn't claim. He said he was the one saving us the entire game--the doc. Too bad he didn't remember it was reverse mafia and that he was the bad guy. I kicked him (since we had three votes on him), then killed one of the traitors. A nice 80 points for me. (Wouldn't work now, with three needed for the kick-lynch)

2: I was the Cult Leader. During the night, my subordinate and our recruit were killed. The masons mismasoned while trying to hit the cult leader. That left, in the day, three players alive. The SK, the stalker, and me. They were both about to lynch me, and I'd get nothing. But then I sweetalked my way out of it--I said that I was a traitor. I pleaded to the stalker, saying that he could solo a victory instead of sharing it with the SK. After all, it LOOKED like the cult had been killed. Two deaths at night (their two targets) could have meant the cult was down. He took the bait. In the end, it was a choice between collaborating with the SK, or the Cult Leader, though he didn't know that. Twenty-five points out of what would've been a defeat, an absolute zero.

  1. Not really something to be proud of, and nothing that great. It was just so hilarious, I have to mention it. All hail discordia. Cult culted stalker. Cult was killed. Masons mismasoned or died and masoned cult leader. I dunno the details. Doc was dead as well. I was the fool, and claimed stalker with a vig report on a poor traitor, who we lynched. Two traitors died that night. Faked a mason report on the last traitor. Because the sk and the vig were the other two alive besides me, we lynched the traitor to get all four dead (I was hoping that they'd lynch me, but whatever). The sk and vig shot each other, leaving me, the fool, as the only one alive. A paradox, no? I was true to my role's name, a fool, for not getting lynched like I secretly wanted to. Yet I was the smartest player by staying alive, and being the only one alive at the end.

~~Biggest Blunders~~

Unfortunately, for every brilliant battleplan, there are two blunders. I've had some really bad plays, it's almost comical. Here are just a few of the things that I now see need to be done differently.

1: I was the doctor. I protected empath. This was a game of cop reports. The watcher claimed, and said that only one person (grace [a cop], I believe) had visited empath. I didn't realize it at the time, so I didn't even think about it. Of course, I didn't trust the watcher, but by the time I claimed, it was too late. I instantly knew that the watcher was jan'd, and that I was screwed. I told them about how xelogen was faking it big time, but I knew that I had messed up. Only when I had to defend myself did I realize that the watcher wasn't only suspicious, but was fake. Unfortunately, it was too late. Nobody believed me (well, I imagine that the mafia did, but they, for obvious reasons, couldn't show it). I got lynched (on mylo, mind you), and it was game over; the mafia won. Only when it was pointed out after the game was over did I realize that the second the 'watcher' claimed with a report, I should've told how it was fake. Of course, me being the idiot that I am, I didn't. I think I lost something like three karma from that game alone. <_<

2: Typoing reports as mafia. Forgetting the 'has' in watcher reports (confirmed twice), noone instead of no one in tracker reports (once), believe instead of suspect in cop reports (me and my scumbuddy did this one, and the third mafia got caught by the sane cop), etc.

3: I was the cult leader in (you guessed it) All Hail Discordia. I culted my friend. Who just so happened to be the mason, who masoned me. While the Vig, Maf, and SK had all targeted a single person (poor fella was TNK'd), we managed to kill ourselves. It was a laugh riot.

4: When I was a BP, I claimed to be the SK. I said that I wanted to collaborate a victory together and needed for the mafia to whisper me. It worked! I got a whisper. Unfortunately, part of the illusion was to cast a no lynch vote, so before I could copy and paste the report and explain the strategy, I was lynched. It was rather hilarious, mind you, especially when the real SK managed to win the game. NOTE: I tried again, recently. It worked in a different way, but I doubt it was due to me: I was a hit bp, claimed sk, they lynched me, maf and sk shot each other.

About Me in Mafia Games

I suck at being scum. Simply put, the only way I will win a game as scum is if the townies are idiots. I get caught often. I slip up. I make mistakes. If I push for the lynch of someone, I am scum. If I go with the cleared people/PR's, I am scummy for blindly following. If I talk too much, then I am scum. Simply put, whenever I am scum, it shows badly.

As a townie, I am better. I have become good enough that, when left alive, I rarely ever choose wrongly. My scumhunting record is stunning in some setups, where I have yet to hit wrong. That will change someday, but for now, the record stands. I'm also usually killed as rapidly as possible. That's because of several reasons: a. Mafia know that I am good. b. Vendettas. c. I am annoying to them. d. When I am not using an interesting strategy and am using less logic, chances are, I am a power role, hence, a good kill. e. Various others.

I'm kept alive because of a. My interesting strategies often make me look like scum, the perfect scapegoat. b. I point out that I likely die, and by living, they frame me as mafia via WIFOM. c. They have a vendetta against another player. d. They think another player is a greater threat than I am. e. They randomly kill, and don't choose me. f. They kill with some bias, such as highest score, avatarless, etc., none of which I am. g. Various others that I forget.

As I said, I use interesting strategies. Stuff like claiming sk when hit bp. Most backfire, so I use them far less than often. Now I prefer to use my largest weapon: logic. My brains have yet to fail me. My gut has.

==The good ol' days...==

I've leaped in bounds from what I was to what I am. I used to be such a newb. Went with my gut, not with logic. Might I add that I almost was always wrong?
