I mean, Darth Vader is redeemed to the point of returning as a light side force ghost which basically makes him a Jedi Knight in death and not only was he directly responsible for the destruction of an entire planet but he also destroyed the Jedi order and murdered children, and probably way worse. I don't think we'll see an entire movie of Ben Solo as a Jedi but he'll probably be donning the robes sometime in the final one at some point.
i feel like this is kylo ren's story mainly, hes going to turn to the light side, what the writers are doing is basically do luke's story but the reverse of it.
It's actually more a rehash of Anakin's storyline, the only difference is he probably won't have to die for his redemption.
you think we might get an entire movie with ben solo playing a jedi?
nah, episode 9 is gonna be him pod racing

i don't think you get to be a jedi after engineering the brutal destruction of like, 5 planets
iirc it wasn't his idea, it was hux's

not really, leia hadn't seen him in a long time apparently and rae had just met him earlier, the minimal amount of mourning was fairly appropriate
It's cool though, that they used the concepts of all three original movies mixed into one movie. The next two movies are going to have to be completely original conceptually.

@jack,
i mean that aspect alone made it a hell of a lot less impactful than it could have/should have been
anyone else notice that this movie is basically a rebranded "a new hope"
they had to play it safe and basically do a soft reboot to remind old fans and introduce news fans to what star wars was, and now is. don't know if you guys realize this, but it's been awhile. it's the only way they could've done it, disney and lucasfilm realized it, and pulled it of great. expect the next episodes to stray away from playing it safe and do things differently
that's my expectation, however there is mild disappointment from that and the fact there's a lot of open ends. i think it'll be one of those things i will appreciate more down the road when the story is more laid out and explored
its only milked if the property is being forced out without regard for care and quality. so far its being done with care and the fans want more and are happy

star wars begins to kneel down, legs, shaky, arms, spaghetti, the udders that have been milked for 30 years has taken a toll.
i don't know how true that is, but they had to with this property, they couldn't just do something new right off the bat, cause new star wars fans don't know what real star wars is. most of them aren't gonna go watch the original trilogy, and they didn't want people thinking prequels
