Welcome to Epicmafia's First Debate Competition!

Your wonderful judges for this competition will be Mindful, Denial, and Jeff.

There will be 7 questions over the course of the competition, but not every team will make it to answer all 7!

Here's how it will work:

The first 3 rounds will essentially be a free for all mass debate chaos. Teams will be given a timeline of when their cases are to submitted to a judge, when the cases will be posted in the round thread, and how long they will have to debate within the thread. Once all cases have been submitted, myself, Denial, and Mindful will post the cases in the thread and give everyone an hour before the thread will be unlocked. Once the thread is unlocked it will be your job for the next 24 hours to comment on the other cases. You can use this time to attack other cases, point out flaws in them, defend your own case from other's attacks, and overall just debate the topic. After 24 hours, the thread will be locked and you will all be given 2 rest days before another question will be given. During these rest days the 3 judges will read the thread and assign every team a score of 1-10 based off how well their case was, how well they defended it, and how well they attacked the opposing stance.

This will happen for 3 rounds.

After 3 rounds, every team will be given a ranking. Teams will be ranked 1-10. The top 6 teams automatically move on to the final 8 and the other 4 teams will face off in a 1 vs 1 PLAY IN battle (7th vs 10th, 8th vs 9th) to see which two also will advance to the final 8.

Once the final 8 is reached, teams will be placed in a bracket and face off in a knock out style 1 vs 1 battle (1 vs Lower Ranked Play-in advancer, 2 vs Higher Ranked Play-in advancer, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5)

One team will emerge victorious from the bracket and be named Epicmafia's Greatest Debate Team!

@thecolonel - actually, not everyone does bypass. I'm aware of at least one user who's ban recently now expired and they never bypassed at any point.

"it's one of those rules nobody cares about".. Well, no surprise that someone who has no respect for the rules would advocate the unbanning of another user who shares the same opinion. Let's just unban everyone that thinks rules should be ignored! You may use your pathetic 'online environment' argument again, but it is void. This website needs revenue. Revenue is not generated when you have an openly toxic community where there are no repercussions for unnacceptable behaviour. This site is privately owned and is not a platform of free speech. In registering and using this website you agree to abide by the rules.

It's well known that abc threw games for vilden to trophy. Perhaps you should read up on your defendant's history before making a fool of yourself even more.

@thecolonel - just because vilden has active bypassing accounts does not mean he's unbanned. This is more reinforcement for him to remain banned, seeing as he cannot abide by simple rules. If he was finding cheaters and honestly trying to help the site, why is he bypassing? You can't pretend to be upholding the rules in one instance whilst completely disregarding them in another.

I'm not really surprised the likes of Arcbell and Poser are completely willing to unban someone who cheated with abc to trophy.


Everyone bypasses. It's one of those rules people (except tryhards like you and Rutab) don't care about. I just checked and he hasn't been reported on any of his bypassing accounts. Who is he hurting by doing it? Even disrespecting the can't-call-Jeff-gay rule was an act of civil disobedience.

When did vilden cheat for a trophy?

Incorrect. At no point have we stated "catfishing is wrong and therefore vilden should be banned". The only reason we consider it to be an issue is in conjunction with the other points already raised: hateful comments, harassment, bigotry, discrimination etc. It testifies as to his true character.

The point is that we're discussing vilden being unbanned. You're using something that has weak ties to the reason of why he was banned, and also is unregulated by the rules.

That's completely incorrect and a terrible example, but I can see why someone in your position would think along that line.
