In this thread we will debate whether or not Sandbox reports should be handled by site mods once again or if bebop and his mod team should have full control over Sandbox reports and Sandbox rules.

man, i agree. consistency is nice and something to strive towards. but the mods aren't paid to do this, and it would be easier on them to reach convergence if the player base wasn't constantly hating/stressing them out and the rules weren't constantly changing.

it's really easy not to get a hc violation! if you had any basic human decency you wouldn't have to sit here exploring the rabbit hole of an admittedly nebulous rule. the ease of moderation on slurs was a compromise to cater to but i'm not going to budge on the n-word. fight me on that if you wish.

This just makes the HC rule go deeper and deeper. So far I got:
1. You're allowed to say the R-slur, A-slur, F-slur, and maybe some others I missed as long as it is not directed at anyone
2. You can say the N word as long as it is not directed towards anyone or said in front of or handled by error.
-You can say the N word with the -er replaced by -a in front of error without getting a vio.

I just don't like people getting vio'd for the same thing others are let go for. Is it too much to ask for the 2 people who handle reports to be on the same page?
i think we should demod everyone and just give the lobby to chaoticdoom since he's never around so everyone can just do whatever the heckily heckie they want

why would anyone complain about moderation when they don't even have vios? what does constant pedantic criticism of the mods do for you? is it really so intolerable that the community isn't always run the way you like it?

the only way for there to be an objective standard in moderating HC reports is for there to be an absolute zero tolerance policy on all slurs or none at all. that way each mod is on the same page. now, obviously, nobody wants these blanket approaches to this rule, so you attempt to strike a balance between the two. this means the rule itself becomes grey - as error says, different mods, different perspectives. bebop is not error. amelio is not tricksterer. platypops is not merlot. one may decide spelling out the n-word in chat is vio-worthy, another may not.
if you think there's a problem, it's not the mods' fault, it's the rule itself. there's just no way to moderate it objectively without upsetting a group of people. so the situation we have now is the best you can hope for, i think.
and what problems does it cause? some poor sap gets chatbanned an hour while his buddy does not. big whoop. really does not matter in the grand scheme of things. this constant avalanche of whinging and complaining will never solve anything.
i know this is rich coming from me, but please grow up.
