over 8 years

Chris deleted his thread and said I could remake it if I spell all the words in the title correctly.

Discuss the presidential election, candidates, stances, and issues here. Also anything else you can think of. I'll be moderating the debate and keeping minors/foreigners from mucking up the discussion. Also if anyone gets too rowdy then I'll put them in temporary timeout.

Debates:

Monday, September 26, 2016

Tuesday, October 4, 2016 (Vice Presidential debate)

Sunday, October 9, 2016

Well, really the requirement to be viable is if a candidate can reach 270 electoral votes, but it becomes more likely that you can do that if you're on the ballot in all the states.

I guess by viable I mean viable for winning a single state. While Johnson has far better chances than Stein, either one of them even winning one state could be a sign that 3rd parties have a chance, thus help shattering the illusion that "voting 3rd party is throwing away your vote"

why are people like you so obsessed with third parties

third parties will always disintegrate and revert back to two parties

i've found that it's generally people care about politics every 4 years that b*tch and moan about "m-m-muh third party"

If enough ppl support the Libertarian party then the Republican Party will have no choice but to absorb it to take back voters. If a Republican can show me he'll shut up about social issues, and stop giving out hand outs to corporations, then I'll vote Republican again.

Same things goes for the Green Party. Hillary has already absorbed most of Bernie's platform (for now), which directly changed the party as a whole. By supporting a third party with policies you actually believe in, the major parties will change to re attract your votes.

People feel that voting 3rd party is throwing your vote away

I wish to shatter that illusion by bringing awareness to 3rd parties and how they may better represent someone's beliefs in politics then the two major parties could

Personally I'm a democrat and planning to vote that way come this November, but I can recognize that if 3rd parties start taking senate seats or states in the presidential election, democrats and republicans may rapidly change their platforms to better suit the American people

Is Hillary's campaign run by buzzfeed?

I mean her loyal voters (and not people who just don't want Trump) are the type of users who swear by Buzzfeed, HuffPost, CNN, and Otaku so ya

Not surprised with the first one, but pretty surprised with matching that match with Jill Stein (mostly social issues). I would have thought it would go Gary, The Don, Hillary, Jill tbh.

Also it turns out I'm a moderate Libertarian (I'm more centrist than most Libertarian's, so I got that going for me.

can't believe you forgot the CONSTITUTION PARTY

Are they on all 50 ballots?

The Green party is on 44, the Libertarian party is the only 3rd party on all 50 ballots

While Constitution party is only in 24 states. Not to dismiss a 3rd party like this but the only viable ones are Libertarian or Green this election
